Name: Faintspot
Gender: She-cat
Age: 24 Moons
Position: Medicine Cat
Clan: Skyclan
Personality: Faintspot had not started down the road of a Medicine Cat. She had wanted to, like her late brothers, and her father's, be a medicine cat. However, having been 'marred' at birth, she was never a very good cat - with essentially useless front paws.
Strength, also, has never been her suit. She walks with a slight bounce in her step, and , in general, has a light, hesitant touch. This, of course, makes her have a light, smooth way of movement that is perfect for treating ill clanmates - but not so good a deal when fighting for her life. Faintspots has made up for her lack of physical strength with a clever, quick mind and knowledgable, common-sense head when it comes to times of crisis.
While she is a compassionate soul, Faintspots isn't always the easiest cat to get along with. She is devoted to her work, and does not like being interrupted with stupid questions or worrysome cats. Time, after all, in her line of work, could be lives.
High strung as she is, and slightly embitter from her past
experiences, she has, perhaps, less patients for nursing ot expecting Queens, whom always seem to worry about the little things. She has never turned away a patient, or a worried mother, but this does not stop her from complaining about it. Faintspots is very good at what she does - but you don't bother her at work, and you don't try to help her with anything. She does not like to be reminded of her shortcomings.
Appearance:
Faintspot has never been a larger cat. Unlike her siblings, she is more compact and small than lanky and thin. There has always been something about her, that has made it obvious that she is not a fighter - not just from personal preference.
Her pelt is very interesting. An off-creamy white, what first could be mistaken for dirt on her light-colored pelt, is actually markings in pale, pale brown - leopard-like spots and dapples, that give Faintspot her name. Were it not for the fact that they had never washed away under her tongue, one could easily assume that these pretty markings were dusty residue from her cave.
Darker colors persist in her coat - a slightly darker brown-grey color marks her nose and the tips of her ears, as well as the tip of her tail. Her main pelt spotting darkens on each of her legs - forming almost-rings around her legs.
Her fur is of medium length, and besides her odd coat patterns, she could be considered an average-looking young she-cat; pretty enough. Her eyes, however, are what tend to equally shock clanmates and strangers to the clan - while her light coat would tend to swallow or wash out lighter colors, her eyes are a birght, light baby blue - the rich color that remained with her since she was a kit.
She is not a completely 'whole' cat, although you cannot tell it by looking at her. Her time amungst twolegs was short, and hardly remembered, but they took from her the ability to have kits (which is good anyways, as Medicine Cat's are not allowed to have kits), and her front claws. While her hind claws can easily claw and retract, her front paws remain always soft - and sometimes, they hurt her - mostly when she's walked for too long on the front of her paws. This has greatly hindered her abilities to defend herself, so she does not often leave camp without an escort, if at all.
History: Faintspot was not born within Skyclan. Instead, she started out in a comfy home of a Twolegger. Her mother was a she-cat named Sable, her father a loner named Oscar. Sable's litter consisted of three kits - Aballe, Finn and Prudence - Faintspot's original name. Sable knew how her twoleggers would take her kits away from her, and therefore, planned to give them to Oscar. Before the exchange could be made, however, Prudence and her brothers were taken to 'the cutter' - and the three siblings would never be the same.
Still, Oscar took them away, before the could be given to different twoleg homes. Escaping into the forest, he gave the kits to the care of his sister - a Skyclan warrior named Yellowfur. Here, the kits were given a new lease on their lives - Becoming Faintkit, Leopardkit and Foundkit.
Soon, the kits were apprenticed - and Faintkit found herself being mentored by her adopted mother, Yellowfur. It soon came to light, however, that the apprentices had a problem - the front claws on each of their paws had been removed. Unable to defend themselves from the front, their mentors tried to teach them how to fight with their jaws and hind legs - which worked beautifully for the taller Leopardpaw and Foundpaw. Stalkier, short-set Faintpaw, however, could not find a similar smoothness to this fighting technique - and for a while, she was being considered for early retirement - protected as an elder.
However, there was another option. Skyclan's medicine cat, Ferntail, was getting on in years, and needed a pick a successor. Yellowfur immediately volunteered her niece, and, realizing that this may be her only chance to be useful to the clan, Faintpaw devoted herself to herb lore and treating sick cats. It wasn't easy - expecially watching her brothers become warriors, while she was stuck as an apprentices, for what seemed like forever.
Ferntail was positively ancient, and soon, Faintpaw found herself taking over almost all of the old tom's duities. He would not give her her full Medicine Cat name, however, until one night, when they both visited Glowing Cave, to commune with Starclan. Here, he game Faintpaw her full name - Faintspots, and she was visited by her ancestors, fully, for the first time. Unfortunately, this was bittersweet - as she woke up to find Ferntail had died in his sleep - remaining with Starclan, having left her in his place.
