Moonkit yawned as she woke up somewhere around sun-high. She batted at her face to try and wake up all the way. It'd been three full moons since she'd been brought to Riverclan. In that time she'd spent most of it in the nursery and getting better. When she'd been brought to the clan, she had hurt her paw. Now it was all better though, and she was all good. Now as she got onto her paws and shook herself a little bit. She looked around the bramble bush that was the nursery. There was lots of sun in here, "It must be sun-high....the patrol!" she said excited.
Moonkit had taken a habit to going outside of the nursery to watch the patrols come back and go out. In less then a moon she would be an apprentice she couldn't wait. As she got to the outside, she tripped over a rock and ended up rolling over herself. She hoped no one had seen her fall, but knew that was wrong when she heard someone laughing at her. She turned her head to see which cat was laughing at her.

Expressionless from the uneventful patrol, Rowanfeather padded through camp, his warriors returning to their duties as well. Being Deputy was a huge responsibility, but Rowanfeather relaxed, knowing that their were slow days such as this, as well. Although today was uneventful, he was relieved that nothing dramatic had happened, such as finding another clan's scent on RiverClan territory, or finding a rouge, and such. The patrol had gone smoothly, and Rowanfeather was grateful for that at least. All in all, it had been a great day so far, and it was only Sunhigh.
His thoughts racing, Rowanfeather hadn't noticed how quickly his pace was becoming. Once he noticed, however, he came to a complete stop, his whiskers twitching slightly. He sighed, sitting down for a moment, to gather his thoughts. Other cats were moving about, and every once and awhile, he'd get a respectful nod from a passing clan member. Rowanfeather merely nodded back, however, as quiet as ever. Drawing a paw over his ear, he couldn't but help notice something poking it's head out of the nursery. He froze, staring, but then relaxed as he saw it was only a kit.
He was taken back, however, when he watched the kit stumble, and then roll over. He stared, his eyes wide, his mouth quivering, trying to hold back laughter. He couldn't help it however, and burst out laughing, his shoulders moving up and down as he did so. He didn't mean to do this to be rude, it was just his first reaction, as he remembered doing the exact same thing as a kit.

Moonkit sat up after falling over something. She wasn't sure what it was but she hoped it wasn't her own paws. She shook her head a little bit. Scratching her ears, until she heard someone laughing. She turned to look and see who was laughing at her. She'd hoped no one had noticed. Of course that wasn't how it had happened. "Rowanfeather." she said looking at the Deputy of Riverclan.
Moonkit started to look down at her paws. She clawed at the ground a little bit. Embarrassed, the deputy was laughing at her. Her tail fell inbetween her hind legs. She felt like turning around and running back into the nursery. Still even with Rowanfeather laughing at her. She liked being outside the nursery more then she liked being inside of it.
"So you saw me fall huh?" she asked him. Why else would he be laughing like that? Not to say he was a mean cat, but he wasn't the type to randomly start laughing about something."It's not nice to laugh Rowanfeather." she said not looking at him.

Still laughing, Rowanfeather noticed how embarrassed the kit seemed, and he urged himself to stop his laughter. He now realized the kit, as Moonkit, the kit that had been brought to RiverClan a few moons ago. He stared at her, a soft expression on his face. He hadn't meant to seem like he was making fun of her, he wasn't that kind of cat. Rowanfeather just couldn't help himself, as he was sure any other cat that would have seen the incident would have laughed as well.
"I'm sorry Moonkit." He apologized sincerely. "You just reminded me of myself when I was a kit, and I couldn't help but laugh. You see, I did the exact same thing when I was your age." He said this quietly, not wanting to embarrass her further more. Rowanfeather's whiskers twitched slightly, as he watched Moonkit. "You aren't hurt are you?"

Moonkit padded at the ground for a moment after he apologized. She looked at him a few seconds later smiling, "It's okay. It was pretty funny." she said smiling. She looked at Rowanfeather, her eyes got big. "You did the same thing?" she asked him suddenly excited and not so embaressed.
Rowanfeather was the deputy he was strong and a good cat. Or so she'd heard, this was her first time talking to him. She was surprised someone like him would do anything a kit like her would do. She shook her head at him. "Nope I'm not hurt. I do it all the time." she said smiling at him. "The Queens keep telling me I need to calm down. But there's so much to do and to see!" she said getting excited. She started jumping up and down a little bit.
"You just got back from patrol right?" she asked him. "Was there anything going on?" she asked wondering she was really a curious little kit. That was something that would probably get her in trouble someday.

Rowanfeather smiled at the young kit, relieved that he hadn't hurt her feelings and such. Normally he was pretty shy around other cats, but young kits never semt to bother him at all. Especially curious ones, such as Moonkit. She semt to want to know about everything, but that was good, or so Rowanfeather thought. You could learn alot from observing things, and Moonkit semt pretty observant.
"When I was your age, I was pretty clumsy. I was always tripping over things, and knocking things over and such. Heck, I still do."He said this good humoured, he remembered being a kit. It was quite a fun experience, and he hoped Moonkit was making the best of it. He knew she'd begin her apprenticing soon, but she was technically still a kit. "It's good to know your not hurt. Your an energetic little thing aren't you?"
His ears twitched as he said this, as he was still smiling. She semt so rambunctious, he wondered who would get the job of mentoring her when she became an apprentice. Thinking for a moment, he spoke once again. "Yes, I just came back from the patrol, and not much was going on. We didn't find anything unusual thank goodness."

The sun was at its peak in the sky and the patrol was just returning. Spottedstar had found the rare time to take a leisurely walk around the forest before she had returned to camp, a little before the patrol had, and stole away to her den, enjoying the chill of the shadowy cave. The sounds of chatting cats, though, awoke her from her light snooze and she emerged from her den, light rays of sun greeting her as her paws tingled with the feel of soft, green grass.
She observed quietly as the young kit, Moonkit if she remembered correctly, scrambled out of the den to see the patrol when she tripped over a small rock. Spottedstar muffled a light mrrow of laughter before approaching the kit and her deputy, Rowanfeather. Her whiskers twitched in amusement as she arrived at her deputy's side and gave him a respectful nod, and a friendly tail flick to Moonkit.
"Beautiful afternoon, is it not?" the leader began, letting out a purr of satisfaction as the warm afternoon sun chased the chill out of her pelt. Sighing satisfactorily, Spottedstar turned her attention back to her clanmates. "I presume the patrol went well?" she asked her deputy, "Seeing that you have no battle scars. That's always a good sign." she meowed good-heartedly, a friendly smile spreading across her maw. "And Moonkit," she continued softly, "I see you've made your way out of the nursery again. You're almost an apprentice, aren't you?" the leader commented, giving her chest a quick lick.
"It's exciting, isn't it? I remember when I first became an apprentice. It was one of the most memorable days of my life - all the cats chanting my name, touching noses with my new mentor, seeing the sparkle of pride in my clanmates' eyes. It's a day I will never forget." the leader mused appreciatively, closing her eyes for just a moment to relive her memories of kittenhood. Shaking her head, Spottedstar chased away the memories, clearing her throat.
"Anyway, I better not get too carried away with my past life. What matters most is the present. Live each day like it was your last, right?" the she-cat purred thoughtfully, shifting her gaze from Moonkit to Rowanfeather, then back to Moonkit. Suddenly, Spottedstar smiled almost mischievously, giving her tail a quick flick over Rowanfeather's shoulder.
"Say, Rowanfeather, what do you think about taking Moonkit to have a look around the forest? I know we're supposed to wait till she's an apprentice, but with the Deputy and Leader with her, what's the worst that could happen? I have nine lives, after all." Spottedstar mewed sarcastically. She knew Moonkit would appreciate getting out of the camp. After all, that was practicaly every kits dream, was it not? And besides, it's not like Spottedstar would get in trouble for taking her out. She was the leader.

Moonkit looked at Rowanfeather. “I can’t believe it!” she said smiling at him. “You mean not all the warriors are graceful?” she asked him surprised. They all seemed like they’d never fall. They made her feel like she wished she could move like them. She was happy to hear not all of them where as good as they seemed. She smiled, “Yeah the queens think I’m kinda annoying because I’m the only kit right now.” She said looking at him. She frowned, she wished she wasn’t alone. “But I’m gonna be an apprentice soon and them I’m gonna have lots of friends!’ she said.
”That’s good. I mean it’s kinda been boring around here. But that’s better then there being a big fight right?” she asked but she already sort of knew the answer to that. “I can’t wait to go on patrols, I don’t even care if I get stuck doing dawn patrol.” She said bouncing on her paws at the thought of going outside of the camp. Moonkit opened her mouth as if she had something else to say. She didn’t though as Spottedstar came over to them. She’d never really met the leader of the clan, but now she looked at her. Something like idol worship in her eyes. She nodded her head at her leader. “Yeah it is Spottedstar.” She said. She seemed to have stopped jumping for a moment, when her leader spoke.
Moonkit smiled, “Yep yep yep! I’m almost an apprentice! I can’t wait. I promise I’m going to be the best apprentice I can be. I’m gonna work really hard!” she said with a smile. Riverclan did so much for her she wanted to do for them back. “Wow I can’t imagine you being so tiny Spottedstar.” She said trying to imagine her leader as something other then the leader it didn’t seem right. She wondered who had mentored the leader, she didn’t ask though. For at that moment, Spottedstar said something that made Moonkit’s heart race. She’d only ever dreamed about the outside of the camp everyday. She’d never gone outside since she’d gotten to the camp.
“Oh Spottedstar do you really mean it? That would be so amazing.” She said with a smile. “I must be the luckiest kit ever.” She said. Then she turned to Rowanfeather, “Please please please Rowanfeather” she said looking at him. “I promise I’ll be on my best behavior, and I’ll do everything you ask.” She said. “I’ll even stay out of your way.” She said promising these things she looked from Spottedstasr to Rowanfeather. The leader and the deputy, starclan must truly have been shinnying down on her. She’d started to bounce up and down with excitement.

Drawn in by Moonkit's bountiful energy, Rowanfeather smiled, his pale green eyes watching her every move. She was quite the energetic one, that was for sure, as she semt to bounce about, looking as excited as ever. He chuckled quietly at Moonkit's question. "No, not all warriors are graceful believe it or not. I sure wasn't, and I know a few others who made quite a few mistakes as well." As Rowanfeather finished, he shook his head good heartedly. Kits now a days were as curious as ever.
An apprentice... Rowanfeather knew that she would be becoming one in about a moon. He could tell how excited she was, and it only brought back more memories, as he remembered how excited he had been when he had been made an apprentice. He was a bit nervous, as shy as he was, but it was well worth it. The chant of his name, and meeting his mentor was enough to keep him going. It had been one of the greatest moments of his life, that, and becoming RiverClan's deputy.
"I'm sure you'll become quite popular once you age into an apprentice, as energetic as you are, Moonkit. Besides, i'm sure the entire camp will be glad to have an extra set of paws to help out." Rowanfeather's tail tip twitched slightly as he heard someone approaching them. Turning he saw that it was Spottedstar, and he relaxed a bit. He never felt nervous around his leader. Returning her respectful nod, he listened to Spottedstar intently.
"It's quite nice out, yes." Rowanfeather agreed, nodding. "As for the patrol, we didn't find anything out of the ordinary." He smiled once again, listening to Moonkit and Spottedstar's conversation. "Those were the days huh? Being a kit, I mean." Rowanfeather meowed to Spottedstar. "As for taking Moonkit in a trip around the forest...how could I say no?" He said this his eyes glued to Moonkit. "I'm sure she'd love to, after being cooped up for so long."

"Yep yep yep! I’m almost an apprentice! I can’t wait. I promise I’m going to be the best apprentice I can be. I’m gonna work really hard!”
Spottedstar couldn't help but let out a soft mrrow of laughter, "I'm glad to see you are so enthusiastic to serving your clan. We could use more apprentices like you. When I was your age I wasn't nearly as determined. In fact, I think I was afraid of becoming an apprentice. I'm not quite sure why, though.....but that doesn't matter." the leader explained, smiling warmly at the bubbly kit. She could tell Moonkit was going to be a great apprentice, and an even greater warrior some day. She could see greatness the young kit.
"As for the patrol, we din't find anything out of the ordinary."
"Good," Spottedstar mused, "any one of my warriors getting hurt is the last thing on my list. Especially my deputy." the she-cat meowed, nodding to Rowanfeather respectfully. Although she was the leader, she held as much respect for each and every clan member as they held for her. When others asked her why, she answered simply with this, 'if I respect you, you will respect me.' And it was true.
"Wow I can’t imagine you being so tiny Spottedstar.”
"Those were the days huh? Being a kit, I mean."
The mottled she-cat nodded her head thoughtfully, "Yes, I can't imagine being that small either. And I agree Rowanfeather, I loved being a kit. You didn't have the responsibility of a warrior yet, and you got to wrestle with other kits all day. Though I'm glad to be past that now. I enjoy taking care of my clan." Spottedstar mewed, closing her eyes in pleasure.
"Oh Spottedstar do you really mean it? That would be so amazing. I must be the luckiest kit ever. Please please please Rowanfeather. I promise I’ll be on my best behavior, and I’ll do everything you ask. I’ll even stay out of your way.”
"As for taking Moonkit in a trip around the forest...how could I say no? I'm sure she'd love to, after being cooped up for so long."
Spottedstar loved the look of excitement in Moonkit's eyes. It reminded her of her own kittenhood. "It's settled then. We'll set out in just a moment, I need to put someone in charge while we're gone." Spottedstar said before disappearing from their sight among the cats. It wasn't long before she had found someone trustworthy enough to put in charge and she returned to Rowanfeather and Moonkit. Smiling, the she-cat flicked her tail over Rowanfeather's shoulder.
"Lead the way, Rowanfeather." the leader said, smiling. "You get to be the leader this time." OOC// sorreh for the lame post, my muse ran away D:

Moonkit looked at Spottedstar, she gave a little squeak of a laugh. She shook her head, "No way! You couldn't have been afriad!" she said looking at her. The way someone does when they are looking at there idol. "Your the leader, and the best leader ever! Of the best clan ever!" she said looking at her. "What could you be afriad of? You have the whole clan to look for you silly." she said not even noticing that she'd called the leader a silly.
Moonkit watched as Rowanfeather spoke with Spottedstar. The deputy and the leader both. Something inside her felt like she was going to explode. She was so lucky to belong to such a clan. That they had let her in after finding her she would be forever greatful for she knew. This clan was family, she loved everyone in it. Spottedstar was an idol for her though, the leader. She was nice and kind, but she could take control. She could rule the clan, and still be nice.
Moonkit gasped, when she looked at Rowanfeather. She smiled, at him, "Oh my goodness. Thank you so much Rowanfeather." the little kit had already been bouncing her her tail flicked at him. She jumped straight up now. Jumping on him, saying over and over, "Thank you thank you." she was so lucky.
Moonkit nodded her head when Spottedstar ran off. Moonkit looked at Rowanfeather, "I can't believe this is happening, Starclan must really like me." she said smiling. She was sitting bouncing up and down if not more now then ever. She looked at Rowan she was next to him from when she'd jumped on him. "Thank you Rowanfeather." she said nodding her head, again there were stars in her eyes. As if she saw the world in this cat.
Moonkit watched as Spottedstar flicked his shoulder with her tail. Moonkit wondered if she could get her tail up that high. Rowanfeather must have been twice her size. Moonkit started to try, she couldn't though. She could only get it to his tummy. She growled a little bit. "I'm sick of being small. Someday I'm gonna be just as big as you Spottedstar." she said looking at him.
